Similar in concept to the cenotaphs we visited in Jaisalmer, these are the cremation grounds and memorials for more recent Jodhpur kings. There is an older location in another town that was used before this one.
Sometimes called the Jodhpur Taj, the marble is the same kind used in the Taj Mahal, and while that is a memorial that Emperor Shan Jahan built to his favorite wife, this is a memorial that a wife built to her husband.
The main structure is quite grand and has lots of decorative work, all done in white marble on this inside.
The exterior isn’t too shabby either.
Set around the sides are the individual marble cenotaphs.
Overall, a very pretty place, not too far from the fort and well worth a visit.
